Hiab Kicks Off Next Generation Of Loglift Forestry Cranes With The Introduction Of The Loglift 18Z

Hiab says its latest Loglift forestry cranes have a new geometry and offer a longer reach and greater performance. Its initial model from the new generation is the Loglift 18Z, with a lift capacity up to 130,200 pound-feet (18 tonne-metres) and an outreach of up to 34.1 feet (10.4 metres).

“Our next generation of Loglift forestry cranes are created for the new generation of operators,” says Hiab Global Product Management Forestry Director Davide Pernice. “Easy to operate and service, and designed for comfortable and safe operation, the next generation forestry cranes are also the first with digital solutions that can further increase productivity and uptime.”

Made With Uptime In Mind

“There is nothing more expensive, and potentially a safety risk, than equipment failure, but our customers can count on Loglift to deliver efficient, reliable equipment and services,” says Hiab Global Product Manager for Forestry Cranes, Arkadiusz Banach.

Hiab ran the Loglift 18Z’s hydraulic hoses inside its boom to protect them from damage. The company also guarded the crane’s cables and oil distribution system to reduce the risk of downtime. Hiab says the crane’s larger hydraulic pipes improve its performance in hot weather; the company also tested the 18Z in freezing temperatures, snow, and heavy rain. The crane has a modular design for ease of installation and simplified attachment switching.

Operator Feedback

Hiab enhanced the operator’s station of the Loglift 18Z with a high seat, greater visibility, and improved ergonomics. Its Space X4 operating system should feel familiar to Hiab operators, as it’s a forestry-optimized edition of Hiab’s Space system for loader cranes. The optional HiConnect telematics system reports on the crane’s condition, operation, and usage.

“We are also proud to introduce a higher level of safety standards in our new forestry cranes,” says Banach. The 18Z comes with an illuminated emergency stop button, a stronger access ladder, and better lighting, according to Hiab. The Space X4 operating system also supplies information on the crane’s overload protection feature and stabilizer deployment.
