Broderson IC-80 Carry Deck Crane

Cranes categorized as carry deck or pick and carry refer to the same type of crane. These compact four-wheeled cranes have a distinctive look, with a rotating boom located in the centre of the machine, the operator’s cab on one side, and a short flat carry or load deck on the opposite side of the mast. Most often, the machine’s engine is located underneath the carry deck. Depending on the machine, the engine can be powered by gas, diesel, compressed natural gas (CNG), propane (LPG), hydrogen, or electricity. If the engine supports some combination of two fuels, it’s referred to as a "dual-fuel engine."

Common Characteristics

These types of cranes typically feature telescoping booms, a low centre of gravity, and a low profile, enabling them to clear overhead obstacles and manoeuvre around cramped jobsites. Some versions feature a very narrow wheelbase, as narrow as 787 millimetres (31 inches), so they can be driven through standard doorways and operated indoors.
