    About Link-Belt

Operating as a subsidiary of Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Link-Belt Construction Equipment designs, manufactures, and sells numerous models of all-terrain, lattice boom crawler, telescopic boom crawler, lattice boom truck, telescopic boom truck, and rough-terrain cranes. In recent years, the company has made considerable investments in the expansion of its manufacturing capacity, production processes, and customer support capability. In addition to a training and quality assurance centre the company opened in 2016 that serves distributors, crane owners, and employees, Link-Belt operates a dedicated Parts Distribution Center from its global headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky.

    Link-Belt 175 AT All-Terrain Crane

    Early History

Link-Belt’s history dates to 1874 when Iowa farmer William Dana Ewart brainstormed a new chain belt design for harvesters he believed would make repairs easier—a “linked belt” made of square, detachable links. In 1874, Ewart received a patent for a new design, and in 1880 and 1888, the Link-Belt Machinery Company and Link-Belt Engineering Company were formed, respectively. Around 1900, those companies developed the first wide-gauge, steam-powered, coal-handling clamshell crane, which Link-Belt says is the ancestor of its current construction equipment. In 1906, those companies consolidated to form Link-Belt Company, which by 1922 had a complete line of crawler-mounted crane-shovels in place alongside the company’s locomotive cranes and material-handling equipment.

    Rugged Cranes For Harsh Environments

Link-Belt’s product lineup includes the RTC Series of rough-terrain cranes with capacities ranging from 50 to 145 tonnes (50 to 160 U.S. tons). Modern Link-Belt rough-terrain cranes feature Link-Belt’s Pulse operating system and the Variable Confined Area Lifting Capacities (V-CALC) feature. The latter supplies real-time, 360-degree load charts for an infinite number of variable outrigger configurations, while Pulse supports telematics for maintenance and asset management purposes. The company’s TCC series telescopic crawler cranes have lift capacities from 51 to 230 t (50 to 250 U.S. t) and are typically equipped with a full-power boom for operational flexibility. Link-Belt HSL-series lattice boom crawlers range from 73 to 272 t (80 to 300 U.S. t) in lift capacity can use a variety of jib and luffing combinations to achieve optimal lift configurations.

    On- Or Off-Highway

The ATC all-terrain crane series includes 150-, 185-, and 250-t (175-, 210-, and 275-U.S.-t) models. The ATC-3275 lifts 250 t and comes equipped with a 13.3- to 68-metre (43.7- to 223-foot) seven-section telescopic boom. The crane can be configured to meet some of the strictest transportation regulations with “Stow ’n go” outrigger pontoons that are easily secured for transport, and jobsite travel is possible with all 70,987 kilograms (156,500 pounds) of counterweight. The HTC series of telescopic truck cranes includes 36- to 110-t (40- to 120-U.S.-t)-capacity models, while HTT-series models range in capacity from 70 to 100 t (75 to 110 U.S. t). The Link-Belt Pulse technology on the HTT series can provide information on the current boom length, boom angle, radius of the load, and current wind speed. HTT truck cranes are also often equipped with a display that provides easy access to onboard diagnostics, the rated capacity limiter, current configuration information, and more.
